Schoonover was a famous illustrator and painter as well as student and friend of his mentor, Howard Pyle the father of American Illustration.  He was also a close friend and fellow student of N.C. Wyeth.  Mr. Schoonover was a native of Wilmington, Delaware.  For over 40 years he served as Senior Warden for Immanuel Church, Highlands, in Wilmington, where he also designed 17 of their 21 leaded stained glass windows.  Four of his designs were fabricated by Willet and after his death, Willet designed and fabricated the final four windows of the church.
