Client: St. Peter's Episcopal Church
Location: Westfield, New York
Scope of Project:
2 multilayered windows- each measuring 6.5' X 8'
Techniques Utilized:
Disassembly of all leaded panels, cleaning of all
glasses, edge gluing of damaged glasses, plate painting of fragile
delaminating painted glasses, reassembly of panels and plates by releading and copperfoiling, refurbishing of all bracing materials.
Additional Information:
These multilayered (plated) windows were extremely dark from
debris accumulated between the plates. In addition, the painting on
the glasses depicting flesh was very fragile and had delaminated in many
areas. Cleaning was a very delicate process and plate painting had to
be applied to a clear glass plate to restore the original appearance.
